The Aircraft Identification poster was issued during World War II so that the public could familiarise themselves with the appearance of British and German aeroplanes. This ensured that the general public would not be alarmed by British aircraft and could take shelter if German aircraft were seen.

This A3 size poster shows outline images of both the British and German aircraft and also has advise on what the poster was to be used for and what action to be taken in hostile aircraft were spotted.
