Silver Blue Opal and Faux Diamond Ring - Filigree - Victorian Themed - size 8.  Weight is 3.08 grams.  This has a 9mm b 6.5mm oval blue opal center stone, prong set with four nearly 2.5mm clear stones in the North, South, East, and West directions and a filigree base with a bridged undercarriage into the shoulders - Victorian themed.  I found that stones mounted in the four directions appears in Victorian jewelry. The ring has a scrolled filigree design at the top of the shoulders and is appx. 5.7mm wide and tapers down to appx. 2.1mm at the back of the finger.  It is marked sterling and tests as sterling but when you look at the area under the stone you can see a gold/coppery hue indicative of plated metal and I therefore believe it is plated sterling or an alloy that is not true sterling - also rhodium plated.  No magnetic reaction.  The top of the ring covers an area of appx. 16.8mm by 16.7mm.   This is a very pretty ring .

I got this ring from an estate sale of a couple who resold a lot of different items.  I believe many of the rings came from importers and while some are marked correctly, some are not.  This is marked .925 and does test it but it has magnetic properties which is an indicator that either the alloy contains a metal that is not standard in sterling, or it is plated.  I believe this to be plated silver and then rhodium plated over that to have it keep it's bright silver color.  Rhodium plating often involves a process of after the silver, a nickel wash is applied at the time of the rhodium plating and that too can create a mild magnetic reaction.  I do have gemological and appraisal training and experience and I do try and describe this the best I can which can go against the markings on the ring.  The prior owner of the ring tagged each ring with her own description which likely came from the supplier of the pieces she purchased - as well as her price.  I am including that information as well.  My description is not swayed by what she wrote but I include it for the buyer's information.  For this ring, she listed the selling price as $92.00.   This  ring is is prettier in person than the photos depicts.  Great for special occasions, proms, weddings, and everyday.     See photos.  Came from a PA estate.  (Lot.
