K.W.St.E. Württembergische Klasse 3 Esslingen, Steam locomotive

An anniversary model in Marklin 1 promises to be something special in every respect.  The exclusive model chosen, the finely detailed execution and careful hand labor for it guarantee a first class model.  The frame and body are made of metal and the many separately applied details are produced in limited run quality from brass and centrifugal cast metal.  The boiler and firebox are covered with real wood strips.  And when you take the "Esslingen" out of the display case, a motor with a bell shaped armature together with high-efficiency electronics provides prototypical running characteristics.  The class III passenger locomotive was developed from a prototype from the Norris class.  As the first locomotive developed by the Esslingen Machinery Company, it was christened with the name of its city and was delivered in 1847 to the K.W.St.E., two years after the founding of the state railroad company.  This class turned out very well thanks to its outstanding characteristics, even on the Geislingen Grade, and it was a typical sight on the railroad in the Fils Valley well into the 1860s.  The "Esslingen" was a daily sight for Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Marklin, too, when he started production of metal toys in Goppingen in 1859.
