Elegant butterfly toppers precut and ready to be placed on top of your cakes. Personalised with the surname of the happy couple and the date of the wedding.

Please send me the surname and date you would like included on the butterflies when you order either by attaching a note when you go through the eBay checkout or if you miss that box just an eBay message afterwards is fine. They can also be produced in 'Mrs & Mrs' or 'Mr & Mr' varieties, so please also let me know if you need this changed.

Edible items are non refundable unless faulty, and as these toppers are primarily used for weddings and I understand that getting things just right is important for your big day, there is also an option on the drop down menu above to simply purchase 2 sample toppers first if you would like to check them for quality and colour matching with your scheme before you place a larger order. I also have a selection other floral and rustic designs and colours for these style toppers available on separate ebay listings (please see my other items), so ordering some samples is also good if you are struggling to choose between them.

If selecting the samples option you will receive two butterflies. The names & dates on the butterflies will not be personalised they will just be printed with example names and dates. Sample toppers will be posted by normal second class postage (not recorded) to keep costs down.

Each set of toppers are made from sheets of 0.35mm thickness edible wafer paper, printed with edible food colouring inks. Wafer sheets and edible food colouring inks are fully edible, have been approved as safe for human consumption and are IFS & BRC food safety standard certificated.

These toppers are printed one side only and are plain on the reverse. The wafer paper I use has a smooth finish on the printed side which means the print quality is clearer than that of traditional 'textured' wafer/rice paper, though they are not quite as vibrant as icing toppers. Wafer paper is slightly translucent so these toppers will look their best against a background of light coloured icing.

Each butterfly measures 5.5x4cm at their widest and tallest parts. The photographs shown on the listing shows samples of the actual product so you can see the quality of them before you buy. (Colour shades and intensities may still vary slightly from the photographs due to differences in computer screen monitor display colours, so please allow for this).

Wafer butterflies will be at they're most vibrant & last longest applied to white roll out or royal icing using a little bit of edible (caterers) glue applied down the body. They can be used flat or bend them gently either side of the body to create a lovely 3D effect.

They can also be stuck directly onto a swirl of stiff buttercream, but they are sensitive to moisture and may begin to curl if the icing is too wet, so please wait for it to dry sufficiently and for a 'crust' to form on the buttercream before applying. If using on buttercream or similar I would also advise applying them just before your event so that they are looking at their optimum for your guests.

Once applied to cakes they should be stored only in a breathable cake box (no airtight boxes or tins) and never in the fridge.

The free postage option offered is for 2nd class recorded postage. They will need to be signed for on arrival to cover them for their value during transit. It is not unusual for items posted 2nd class to take up to a week to be delivered so if you are working to a deadline a 1st class postage option is available at checkout and will be faster.

Please order in plenty of time as it is not always possible to accommodate large orders at short notice. They have a long shelf life and can be ordered up to a year in advance if kept in their packaging and stored out of the sunlight. (so they don't fade.) I would advise ordering at the very least 2 weeks before the big day. Please contact me first if you require an urgent order and I will advise if I can accommodate it in time.

Edible wafer sheets contain the following ingredients: Potato Starch, Water.

Depending on the colour shade purchased edible inks will contain all or some of the following ingredients: Water, E422, E151, E110, E102, E124, E122, E133, E145, E1520, E330
