Item Description

Description

These wonderful mini fruit trees have been specifically bred for their dwarf habit. These beautiful varieties are easy to grow and will produce lovely flavourful fruit. Best when grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock to produce a compact productive tree.

Apple - ‘Golden Delicious’ – This easy to grow variety produces good yields of attractive golden-green apples that mature to golden-yellow. Stores well for a long period after harvesting.

Pear - ‘Mini conference’ – One of the best known pears, ‘Conference’ works well as a dessert pear but is also excellent when cooked. Trees crop late in the season from October to November, and the fruit will store until January.

Plum - ‘Black Amber’ – This mini plum tree produces fruit with a gorgeous, sweet flavour that is brilliant when eaten straight from the tree. Partially self-fertile but will produce a better yield if planted with a pollination companion.

Cherry - ‘Sylvia’ – This dwarf cherry tree is perfect for the patio, making a great focal point with its attractive blossom in spring. A compact variety that produces delicious, sweet cherries.

How To Grow

Repot into 30cm pots in a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3 at the same soil level as they were in their nursery pots. Keep sheltered until fully established. Repot into increasingly larger pots up to 60cm diameter as they increase in size. After growing on these can be planted in well drained, sunny borders that have been enriched with well rotted manure or garden compost.

More Info

Feed and water regularly throughout the summer. Remove some of the fruit in its first year of fruiting to allow the tree to focus some of its energy towards growing strong stems as well as fruit. In spring apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of trees grown in borders to help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Light pruning in spring is required only to keep their shape.
