1955 Press Photo A U.S. Navy pilot flies helicopter by remote control

This is an original press photo. A pilot on the ground (right) flew a helicopter by remote control at Bloomfield, Connecticut. Developed by the Kaman Aircraft Corp. for the Navy, the aircraft is the first fully remote controlled helicopter. The research craft carries a man aboard to take control in case something goes wrong.
