This lovely Japanese wood sosaku creative kokeshi doll is from the 1970's, and measures 6" tall and just 1.25" in diameter across the bottom.  She was designed by a highly respected kokeshi doll artist - Miyajima Muhitsu - who has won many of the highest awards in Japan for his beautiful kokeshi creations, including one for this doll.  Her name is "Hanagokoro" which roughly translates to "Spring Flowers".

Her attractive and quite modern asymmetrical hair do is lovely as one side falls much lower than the other.  Her beautiful kimono is decorated with white spring-time flowers - and single flower petals that appear to be slowly falling in a gentle breeze.  Part of this doll's charm is that she is made entirely from blonde/light colored wood.  Her sweet facial features are just delightful.   The artist's fading red stamp/chop is on the bottom.  Please see any flaws below.

This kokeshi doll is in very good condition - hard to find many flaws other than a bit of worn varnish on top of her head - and she would make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.   Please remember that this is a vintage doll that may have minor imperfections, such as dust/dirt/dings/scratches/scuffs/age spots.  And please note the size of the doll as the pictures may make it look larger than it actually is.
