Two vintage Japanese or Chinese hair combs in different styles and materials

#1  The large amber celluloid comb is probably Chinese. It has been hand painted with typical oriental designs such as dragons and measures 1½ ins h x 6 ins w (4 x 15 cm)

#2  This comb is Japanese and may have been used for either ornamental or hairdressing purposes. It is made from black resin with a glittery painted design in red and tiny pieces of mother of pearl inlay. The rectangular shape with a curved back is traditional. It measures 1 ins h x 3½ ins w (2.5 x 9 cm)
