There are two columns of printed Gothic text in back ink with forty-one lines of text per column. Rubrics in red ink with woodcuts depicting various Saints, Apostles and Biblical scenes scattered throughout the manuscript in black ink. Leaves containing music consist of a four-line stave in red ink with notes in black ink This particular leaf contains the text for the Mass that is celebrated on the 4th and 5th Sundays after Easter and it includes The Gospel of John 16, 5-14.. Giovanni Varisco and his family members were wealthy Venetian printers with bookshops in Rome and Naples. Varisco was also the typesetter appointed by Pope Pius V to print the missal authorized by the Council of Trent in 1570, which was quite an honor and responsibility for this Venetian family.
