Driver Des Weller is seen here during the late 1960's driving locomotive "Western Comet" along the eastern bank of the lake, heading back to the station. The model, built by Severn Lamb Ltd of Stratford-on-Avon is a miniature of a British Railways Class 52 Western diesel locomotive and can now be found at the Royal Victoria Railway, Southampton, renamed "Western Explorer", number D1002. The Brooklands Miniature Railway at Brooklands Pleasure Park in Worthing, West Sussex was opened in time for the Easter period in 1965 as a 9.5 inch gauge end to end line. It was later replaced with a 10.25 inch gauge setup, laid around the lake to form a complete circuit, re-opening in March 1967. The last day of operation was Sunday 23rd September 2018 where a final run was made for staff, friends, family and the local press.
