Movie Synopsis: Major Clint Drango (Jeff Chandler) of the U.S. Army and his aide, Capt. Marc Banning (John Lupton), ride into a burned-out Georgia town shortly after the end of the Civil War with orders to set up a military governorship. The townspeople are bitter over the earlier destruction of their crops, homes, schools and church by Sherman and Union troops but they do not know that Drango was a participant in that destruction. Renegade former Confederates under Clay Allen (Ronald Howard) plan to undermine Drango's benign administration in hopes of restarting the war...

How Our Posters Are Graded: All images of the posters are of the actual poster for sale so what you see is what you get; we do not use stock photos.

Very Fine – Almost Mint: Unused with no flaws.

Fine:  Generally unused with the original folds and possible signs of minor ageing but no significant flaws.

Very Good:  These have the usual folds, possibly some pinholes, possible very light blue tack stain spots, minor edge or fold wear, slips or tears, and unobtrusive stains but no paper loss.

Good: Has possible staining, pinholes, minor paper lifts in corners, small tears (possibly taped on reverse) slight fold separations, minor paper loss, and possible blue tack stain spots, and edge wear but still good enough to frame.

Fair: These posters will need some restoration and are usually only sold on this site if they are rare and hard to find. There will be a combination of tears, paper loss, staining, pinholes and blue tack stains but because of the rarity of the poster, worth linen backing.

About American Movie Posters: American One Sheet Poster globally known as the standard movie poster size and became the most popular among collectors. These posters were printed on a thin paper stock and were usually displayed in front of the theatre or in the lobby.

The 27” x 41” size became popular in the early 1900s, and remained so until the 1980s when the size was shortened to 27" X 40" (same as Australian one-sheets) but can vary slightly in length size dependent on the distributor and printer used. Many are now also double-sided for use in light boxes.

Many of the sexploitation movie posters of the 70s were printed by different printers and sizes varied from 25” x 37 up to 37” x 41”.

The One Sheet prior to 1980 was almost always found folded in eighths with one vertical fold and two horizontal folds, and after 1980 were sent to theatres rolled.

The studios often printed a couple of different styles of posters for one film, one being what is known as an “Advance” poster issued before the release of a film to entice potential audiences to a showing, and the other one released to coincide with film’s release.

Postage & Packing Information: All posters are rolled and shipped in a solid cardboard cylinder or folded into their original folds, placed into a plastic sleeve and carefully flat packed into a protective sleeve and large stiff mailing folder ($2.49 each) with backing board for extra protection during transit.
