Movie Synopsis: Documentary explores Isaac Stern's cultural tour of China is seen, with the master violinist performing and mentoring young Chinese musicians. He visits rehearsals of the Peking Opera, meeting with their musicians who use traditional Chinese instruments, and also visits a sports academy and other venues. The lingering effects of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), which opposed any western influences and oppressed those who introduced western approaches, are evident in the lack of skill development among many of the young musicians and the emphasis on technical skill rather than artistic interpretation...

How Our Posters Are Graded: All images of the posters are of the actual poster for sale so what you see is what you get, we do not use stock photos.

Very Fine: Almost Mint: Unused with no flaws.

Fine:  Generally unused with the original folds or rolled. There may be some slight minor edge wear due to storage and, possible signs of minor ageing but no significant flaws.

Very Good:  These have the usual folds or are rolled posters possibly with pinholes, very light blue tack stain spots, minor edge or fold wear, minor splits or tears, and unobtrusive stains but no paper loss.

Good: Has possible staining, pinholes, minor paper lifts in corners, small tears (possibly taped on reverse) slight fold separations, minor paper loss, and possible blue tack stain spots, and edge wear but still good enough to frame.

Fair: These posters will need some restoration and are usually only sold on this site if they are very rare and hard to find. There will be a combination of tears, paper loss, staining, pinholes and blue tack stains but because of the rarity of the poster, worth linen backing.

About American & Canadian Movie Posters: The American and Canadian One Sheet Posters are globally known as the standard movie poster size and became the most popular among collectors. These posters were printed on a thin paper stock and were usually displayed in front of the theatre or in the lobby.

The 27” x 41” size became popular in the early 1900s, and remained so until the 1980s when the size was shortened to 27" X 40" (same as Australian one-sheets) but can vary slightly in length size by a centimeter or two depending on the distributor and printer used. Many are now also double-sided for use in light boxes.

Many of the sexploitation movie posters of the 70s were printed by different printers and sizes varied from 25” x 37 up to 37” x 41”.

The One Sheet prior to 1980 was almost always found folded in eighths with one vertical fold and two horizontal folds, and after 1980 were sent to theatres rolled.

The studios often printed a couple of different styles of posters for one film, one being what is known as an “Advance” poster issued before the release of a film to entice potential audiences to a showing, and the other one released to coincide with film’s release.
