Being offered on this auction is
1974 Christmas Plate made by Konigliche Porzellan Manufaktur (KPM), Berlin,
Germany. It features Angel Musician. Plate is actually called
‘Musizierender Engel’ in German. It is of contemporary Christmas plates
series designed in modern art style. Plate is of blank white background. It
has gold rim. Shepherds are of very
deep cobalt blue with heavy gilding. Bright star and rays are in gold. It
has inscription ‘Weihnachten 1974’ in gold. Looks splendid. Well-known
German painter Sigrid Reindl von Unruh designed this plate. The backside is
marked with scepter mark in blue under glaze and light green Empire Globe
(Reichsapfel) mark. The scepter mark was introduced when Frederick The
Great bought the factory. Other marking is ‘Begrenzte Auflage’ (Limited
Edition) printed in gold on the backside.
Plate measures about 7 ¾” in
diameter and stands 1” deep. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or
chips found. Colors are bright and vibrant. Gold has no wear. There is a
paper sticker ‘Made in Germany’ attached to the backside. Please take a
