Thanks to a new discovery and the restoration expertise of Rare Sportsfilms Inc, another rare broadcast treasure is now available on DVD!  The last six innings of an original Angel TV broadcast from KTLA is now available for the first time ever on this new 1 hour, 15 minute B & W DVD made directly from the original kinescope!  Legendary Angel announcers Dick Enberg and Don Wells call the play-by-play action, and this DVD shows the last of the third inning through the end of the game, including post-game wrap-up!  This pitching matchup features Clyde Wright (10-5) vs. Mike Kekich (9-8).

California third baseman Ken McMullen’s three-run first inning homer and another Angel run in the second inning have the west coasters leading 4-2 when the program begins, with the Yankees coming to bat in the last of the third inning.  The Angels’ Ken Berry gets three hits, but Yanks leadoff man Horace Clarke is the batting star of the day, with 4 for 5, and Thurman Munson goes 2 for 5!  Andy Kosco greets Yankee reliever Fred Beene by smashing his first pitch for a left field homer in the 5th for California’s final run.  Sparky Lyle hurls the last three frames for New York.  Meanwhile, Wright pitches a great game, but with two out in the ninth and a run in, Eddie Fisher preserves the Angel win, retiring the only hitter he faces.

Even partial-game TV broadcasts from before the days of home VCR’s (1975) are very rare.  This is the oldest TV broadcast involving the Angels known to exist!  Yankee fans will also enjoy going back a generation in time and watching a live TV broadcast from OLD Yankee Stadium!
