The Heart of Midlothian was originally published in four volumes and is often regarded as Scott's finest novel. Much of the dialogue is in Lowland Scots.

Sir Walter Scott was an historical novelist, playwright and poet. He was one of the first to have contemporary readers worldwide.


CONDITION

In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to the spine and boards. Externally, very smart with just some small patches of rubbing to the raised bands and to the head and tail of spine. Prior owner's bookplate to the recto of front endpaper, 'DM'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with scattered spots to the first and last few pages and the odd spot throughout.
