Czech Glass Synthetic Mexican Opal Dragons Breath Bookmark - Red Blue Color Changing Glass Amulet Bookmark - Bronze or Silver Finish - Dragon Accessories

The focal point of this Victorian style bookmark is the large glass cabochon which has been made in the style of a Mexican Opal also known as Dragon's Breath (made from glass not a gemstone). With each slight turn, the colors shift from deep scarlet red to lightening strikes of blues!

Mexican Opal Cabochon is set securely in a lovely antique silver or antique bronze bookmark setting. Bookmarks are made of alloy metal {nickel and lead free according to the manufacturer} and measure approximately 3.25" in length x .75" wide.

Mexican Opal, also known as Dragon’s Breath, is a collector’s nickname for man-made stones that are made of glass and mixed with certain metals to produce a brilliant color shifting effect. Colors shift from a deep to bright red with flashes of electric blue and even purples. The flashes of color from within the stone are known as the "breath" from which the name is derived. Mexican Opals were first used in jewelry in the early 1900’s to simulate fire/jelly opals. Highly collectible and rare – this lovely stone is a certain conversation piece and will become a cherished favorite.
