With an illustrated frontispiece to Pendennis and 73 full plate illustrations to Christmas Books, alongside numerous vignettes. Collated, complete.

William Makepeace Thackeray was an English novelist of the 19th century. He is famous for his satirical works. Pendennis is set in 19th century england and follows the hero, Arthur Pendennis and his journey to find his place and life in London society. Christmas Books is a collection of short illustrated humorous stories by Thackeray.


CONDITION

In half calf bindings. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the spines and extremities. Loss to the head of the boards to Christmas Books as well as to the rear corner of volume Christmas Books. Front hinge to Pendennis is slightly strained but firm. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright with spotting throughout.
