A pretty vintage faux tortoiseshell hair comb with openwork

DESCRIPTION:

 

Here is a comb whose light and delicate appearance is typical of the hair accessories which appeared around the turn of the 20^th century.  The material is faux tortoiseshell with two tines. The delicate asymmetric heading has been pierced into a delicate lace like design.

 

The final picture illustrates similar hair accessories from contemporary sources and shows the hair styles with which they were used.
