DESCRIPTION

The first edition of this work.

This work is an interesting look at guilds, and at the origins of trade-unions. The author looks into the origins of guilds, religious and social guilds, town-guilds, gild-merchants, craft-guilds, and the general history of guilds.

Written by Lujo Brentano, a German economist and social reformer. He was the professor of economics at universities of Breslau, Strasbourg, Vienna, Leipzig, and Munich.

With a label to the front board, 'Edinburgh Association for the University Education of Women'.


CONDITION

In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. With a label to the front board. Light discolouration and marks to the boards and spine. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with a couple of handling marks.
