Magazine Issue #148

December 2019

Free - 'The Pictorial Scrapbook - 1969'

Extra Large 56 Page full issue featuring photographs and press / gig ads for the April 1969 - December 1969 period. Over 70 photographs of FREE, 19 full page, covering the band in the studio, on stage and off. Scores of these photographs and adverts are unseen for decades, many are also previously unpublished.

This is a collectors issue, and quality of the photographs, now 50 years old, varies in quality. This issue is NOT for the casual Free fan or buyer but for the real Free enthusiast. Consider this more like the middle of a book with all the pictures together and sandwiched between issues #147 and #149 which feature the text and record history. This issue is 95% pictorial.

The most in depth look at this period of the FREE history EVER. This is the second in a trio of issues that look at this specific phase of the band evolution over #147, #148 and #149.

This magazine is run and written by fans of the band for fans of the band and it deals with Paul Kossoff, Paul Rodgers, Andy Fraser & Simon Kirke throughout their different groupings in all eras.

It also runs features and reviews on all the sisters and brothers of the Free unit. Back Street Crawler, Crawler, Bad Company, Sharks, The Law are all featured, as are the individuals that made up those bands and others, John Rabbit Bundrick, Terry Slesser, Snuffy Walden, et all.

The magazines breadth and depth is its strength and it has also featured Cry Of Love, Gov’t Mule, Black Crowes and a variety of other acts who name Free as an influence. The magazine is a wealth of knowledge and information if you like this type of blues based Rock.
