Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the popular
1980's comedy, THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY, released in 1980 by Columbia
TriStar and directed by Jamie Uys. A Sho in the Kalahari desert
encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. He
takes it back to his people, and they use it for many tasks. The people start
to fight over it, so he decides to return it to the God--where he thinks it
came from. Meanwhile, we are introduced to a school teacher assigned to a small
village, a despotic revolutionary, and a clumsy biologist.
This original one-sheet is from the film's
original US theatrical release in 1982 and features artwork designed by Goodman. Unrestored and folded as originally
issued, this vintage original one-sheet poster is in very fine+ condition
without any pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws.
The Gods Must Be Crazy was the world's biggest non-US box office hit during
its release. It ran for 532 consecutive days at the Oaks Theaters in Cupertino,
California, setting a record for the longest uninterrupted run of any movie in
Northern California. It was pulled only because the film reels fell into
disrepair and a large section caught fire. After such a long run, replacing the
reels was too expensive.
