* We purchased a small grouping of these bottles that were found inside an old building and most of them still had paper labels.  The labels were dirty and worn and in some cases the labels just fell apart as we tried to clean them.   So we cleaned the best one, made a copy of it, to use in repairing and replacing the badly deteriorated labels.  This bottle is one of the FEW antique VENEREAL DISEASE bottle's that we've had that easily divulges what it was used for.   Usually the manufacturer was so secretive about what was said on the label, etc., so that nobody would know that a person was taking a medicine for a venereal disease.   The paper label wraps around entire bottle except where it is embossed vertically "S. H. KENNEDY'S", and it is fairly graphic in describing the use of this medicine.   It is possibly a medicine just for FEMALE use, as it says such things as "For LEUCORRHEA and other Vaginal Diseases ... For Leucorrhea or Whites, Ulceration of the Os Uteri and other Vagina / Vaginal Diseases, Gleet, Gonorrhea, Obstinate Ulcers ... "   The product that came in this bottle was to be injected; TO BE USED ONLY AS AN INJECTION AND EXTERNALLY!   The label mentions quite a few other things that are hard to figure, such as the product name ABICAN (?) which is probably stands for something.  It also talks about "Light AND Dark PINUS  CANADENSIS" and "Darpin".  Whether it worked or not wasn't such a big deal to the manufacturer as someone with this disease was so desperate they would try anything in hopes of a cure.-   Prior to finding this group of bottles we'd never seen a labeled example so never really paid attention much attention to it as by itself, the bottle has little meaning.  But with a label it tells a whole other story, it was an old time V.D. CURE, check it out!
