Because of his adoptive ties to the Arapaho Indians and his intimate knowledge of their ways, he was sought out in 1922 as a technical adviser for the epic film The Covered Wagon . Soon he was in front of the camera as MGM's answer to Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson.
