Aquilegia 'Mrs Scott-Elliott' produces pretty blooms in a variety of stunning colours which rise above bright green foliage on upright, slim stems. Commonly known as Columines, these hardy perennials are well suited to cottage gardens and make excellent cut flowers.
Grow aquilegias in a sun or part shade in fertile, moist, well drained soil.
Columbines hybridize readily, be aware that any self-sown seedlings may not come true to type. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead faded aquilegia flowers to prevent them self seeding. Aquilegias dislike disturbance but overcrowded clumps may be lifted and divided in spring when necessary.
