Pot up pelargonium plants and grow them on in warm frost-free conditions. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise geranium plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before transplanting them into their final positions in containers, beds and borders. Plant geraniums in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any light, non-acidic, well drained soil. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on.
When do geraniums flower?
Geraniums flower between June and October, and regular deadheading will encourage more blooms.

Where should I plant geraniums?
Plant geraniums in non-acidic, well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Geraniums thrive in beds, containers and hanging baskets.

What special care do geraniums need?
Geraniums are half-hardy, and while 'Best Red' is a high-performing variety, unless over-wintered in a greenhouse, should, like other geraniums, be treated as an annual in the UK. Keep well-watered in hot, dry periods.
