A bound volume of this scarce periodical, containing nos. 13-18 for 10 Mai to 30 Juin 1776; each number containing reports of events concerning the various Courts of Europe, though the actual date of reporting (given at the start of each article) is often several weeks earlier than the date of publication; reports from Angleterre often include details of the events in America, leading to the Declaration of Independence in July of that year.
Bound in contemporary paper-covered boards, leather spine with gilt floral decoration, gilt title and volume no. (41) on morocco labels; boards generally rubbed and faded with wear to extremities; spine rubbed with small loss at head; joints cracking though both boards secure; all edges stained red; text-block remains sound and firm, pages a little age-toned with some light foxing and other minor blemishes in places, else in nice, tidy condition; separate title-page to each number; imprint states Geneve, however, this appears to be false, the Journal at this time being published in Paris by Ch. J. Panckoucke; text in French.
