Banksy of Brighton
By young English artist Imbue, already dubbed the new Banksy by the English press
Imbue is an contemporary street art artist like: Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Isy en Sot, Mr Brainwash, Blek le Rat, JoNone DFace etc
Imbue has made a name for himself in taking familiar everyday logos and imagery and manipulate them, so they make people take a closer look. After years experimenting with different styles and techniques using printing kits, markers, paints and various other materials, Imbue has finally crafted a unique style. He now produces limited edition screen prints, posters and canvas's that have been sold in Japan, America and Hawaii to name a few. He is still involved in creating street art and Imbue stickers, stencils and posters still appear overnight as he continues to adjust the streets.
Nicknamed ‘The new Banksy’, Imbue does more than just writing his name on the walls. With his provocative spirit and his nastiness, this street artist distorts advertisings or army recruitment posters and even introduced a naughty Snowy White on the shelves of a Disney store. Playing with the symbols, he melts a bottle of Coca Cola in the body of the Virgin Mary, diverting the religious and popular iconography to give them a new meaning. In 2008, he set up powdered sugar dispensers, displaying "cocaine" and "heroin" on Brighton Pier, without being disturbed, questioning the public and the authorities about the drugs found on every street corner.
