Please see my e bay shop for other listings of sixpence and farthing jewellery. This half crown was a British pre-decimal coin, worth 2 shillings and 6 pence (written as "2/6d") . Sometimes known colloquially as "half a dollar".  They are much larger and heavier than any UK coin in circulation now  - with a diameter of 32 mm and a weight of 14.1g (precisely half an ounce). But they are less than 3mm thick so can be easily posted on inside a standard letter or greetings card (max 5mm thick and 100g letter rate).  In Great Britain, it was in circulation up to 1971 Decimalisation day, and would have easily bought a pint of beer in a pub or 2 litres of petrol.   Postage and packaging at a cost of only 99p. Other items of jewellery selling without reserve price starting at 99p
