An Old 1950's, Made In Japan, Battery Powered, Hobo Clown With A Clapping Monkey, In Not Perfect Working Condition.

This toy is in good used condition but it does have some issues. The clown's clothes are dirty, there is some tarnish/rust on the tin base. The outside and the inside of the battery compartment door has some rust but the battery compartment itself is clean inside. It takes two D batteries, which are not supplied. It has an on/off switch that works but sometimes you have to slightly maneuver the batteries to get it going. Once it's going it really goes to town. The clown's right leg goes up and down and the accordion like framework fully extends and retracts. As it extends there is a ringing sound like the monkey's cymbals are clapping. The problem is that the string that is attached to the clown's leg and operates the monkey's arms is broken in a couple of places. The string is old and so thin that it keeps breaking even though I've tied it in a couple of places. It really needs to be restrung with new string.

The clown is 9 1/2" tall. the monkey is 13" tall. The tin base is 6" x 4 1/2".
