Gentlemen

Offered here is this extremely rare USN SUMMER FLYING JACKET M-716 made by SWITLIK PARACHUTE CO. INC under contract W383s-381.

Originally it should be classified as M-421A, but the original spec of this product is "M-716". Introduced in the 1930s, the M-421 series was a lightweight flight jacket for heat protection locally provided by the USN and USMC. Later, it was revised to the AN-J-2 and AN 6551 labels to conform a common model for the Army and Navy at the end of WWII. These were mainly used in the Southwest Pacific Theater, and their existent numbers are extremely small today.

The condition of this example is excellent considering it is over 75 years old. All parts are genuine to the jacket. The material used on this model is called Oxford fabric made of a nylon-cotton blend, resulting in durability that surpasses the cotton. Features 4 front pockets and a 6-pen pocket on the left arm. All buttons are present. Original TALON zipper working perfectly. Bi-swing back provides freedom of movement when wearing it. There is one dark stain on the left sleeve (on pics) which probably can be removed. Cuffs shows minimal wear (on pics).
