We offer for your consideration the wonderful vintage Schmidt Tin.

This tin is one of many tin designs created by the E.Otto Schmidt company of Nurnberg Germany to market and package there baked goods line of products, this is one of their gingerbread tins. In this year (1992) the design featured images of the St. Sebald Cathedral. The Cathedral being name for the city's patron saint. The side panels feature images of life in the city around the late 1700s. The Document pasted inside the lid of the tin looks to include more detailed information about St. Sebald Cathedral, But I don't read or speak the German language.

Condition: The tin is not mint, but it has acquired a wonderful patina, which I feel, gives the box so much more character and depth.  The top shows a small amount of buckling, but it does not detract from the overall look, or effect the artwork.

This tin is a very generous size too (it holds a lot of gingerbread)
It is approximately 16 2/8ths in. wide, 11 5/8ths in. deep, and 6 3/4 in. tall.
The lid is held in place with a full width piano style hinge.
The top and bottom edges of the box sides are bevelled, providing strength and stiffness to the box design. All the scroll work on the sides is embossed (seen clearly in the picture of the inside). Obviously this company takes great pride in their packaging.

If you are a tin box collector, and you don't already have a E. O. Schmidt tin, you have to add this one to your collection
