From 2009 to 2017, he was a pro football analyst for ESPN.[2] He played cornerback for ten seasons (1977-1986) with the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta Falcons. As a player, Edwards is known for the 1978 "Miracle at the Meadowlands", when he recovered a fumble by New York Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik and returned it for a game-winning touchdown. Edwards was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2001 to 2005 and the Kansas City Chiefs from 2006 to 2008. As a coach and broadcaster, Edwards became popular for short, punchy declarations dubbed "Hermisms" by fans.
