The measurement is more like 3.44444 etc yards, not exact since I folded it in 4 before I measured it and did the math.The 56" wide includes the printed edges. Excellent quality fabric that has been scotch guarded, so pillow covers galore!I would say it was more for drapery, but I would use if for decorative pillows.Not so much upholstery unless the furniture was only used occasionally.Heavy butt traffic would wear away the colors on the edges. :D
