Each container also comes with 3 reusable special applicator pads as well as complete instructions from Mapleshade for use.
I. PERFORMANCE AND DESIGN
Using the latest microparticle technology developed for modern high precision optics, MAPLESHADE has formulated an optical polishing fluid for CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs, game CDs and CD-Rs.
It is surprisingly effective in:
• Removing the muddy sound and digital harshness caused by the optical jitter of CD and DVD playing surfaces;
• Sharpening the image edges and intensifying the colors of DVD videos; and
• Making scuffed and unreadable CD-ROMs and game CDs readable again.
The physics are simple: a mass-produced CD or DVD, though it looks smooth, has substantial microscopic roughness at the surface being read by the CD/DVD player's laser beam. That micro-roughness causes audible jitter in the digital music data stream. Our Mikro-Smooth fluid uses highly uniform particles of two ten-millionths of an inch far finer than conventional polishes to significantly smooth the playing surface's micro-roughness.
The effect you hear is very similar to the effect of a good jitter-reducing processor: from the lowest bass to the highest treble, the attack of musical notes and their harmonic detail is cleaner; the sustain of piano notes and cymbals is noticeably longer; and the treble edginess of most CDs is considerably ameliorated.
The polishing treatment, which takes about 30 seconds, is permanent. It does not need to be repeated unless the disc gets scuffed.
Most discs (CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs, game CDs, CD-Rs) that are unreadable due to scuffing as opposed to deep gouges can be restored with Mikro-Smooth. However, polishing out scuffs may require more than the 30 seconds needed for good sound and sharper images on new discs.
Because Mikro-Smooth contains only ultra-fine, completely inert particles and distilled water, it cannot cause either short-term or long-term damage to a CD.
II. APPLICATION TIPS
• Apply one drop of Mikro-Smooth to the CD/DVD playing surface. Using the enclosed special pad, polish entire surface vigorously (with a circular motion) for at least 30 seconds, then rinse off the residue under the tap. Dry by patting with tissue or soft, clean towel. The good effect is permanent.
• If the polishing pad gets dirty or gets too clogged with polish, it can be rinsed in water.
Skeptical? It's physics, not voodoo. A CD is just a mass produced hunk of plastic. Under a microscope the surface is rough the hills and valleys bend the laser beam reading the music data. When the beam is bent, each data bit is read too early or too late. That causes jitter. Jitter causes harsh, muddy sound. The solution is to flatten that roughness using our Mikro-Smooth sub-microscopic ceramic polishing particles (two ten-millionths of an inch, far finer than silver or auto polish).
A bottle makes 275 CDs or DVDs sound a whole lot better at 7 cents per. One polishing lasts forever. Unplayable scuffed discs (including games) will play again. Three polishing pads of optical industry velveteen are included.

SPECIAL NOTE ON SHIPPING COSTS: I ship within the US via Insured First Class Mail with Tracking. My actual out-of-pocket cost to ship even one container within the US is about $3.60 for First Class Mail plus an additional expense for the private shipping Insurance plus an additional cost for the Delivery Confirmation Number (that I will email to you after shipping). This totals over $3.60 postage you will find on your package shipped to the US, plus the cost of private shipping insurance, packing materials such as the bubble wrap mailer. I then need to carefully pack the container, make out the shipping label and Delivery Confirmation form online and wait in line at the post office to ship. I am certainly not making a profit on shipping Mikrosmooth.
VERY FAST domestic shipping and insurance for the 1st container, using USPS Insured First Class Mail (2-5 Business Days Service) with Delivery Confirmation and extremely careful packing is $3.60 within the US including Alaska and Hawaii. Insured Priority Mail shipping to Puerto Rico is also $3.60. Extra containers shipped together are only $1.00 extra per bottle for shipping and insurance within the US. 98% of our items are shipped the same day or next business day after payment is received.
International Shipping would be via USPS First Class Mail International (4-7 days transit time). The cost is $13.60 and this cost includes the additional time required to fill out the customs forms. Again, extras shipped internationally together in the same package via First Class Mail International cost only $1.00 extra for each additional container shipped in the same package. Shipping to Canada is just $11.60. Additional containers in the same package shipped to Canada re $1.00 extra for each additional container of Mikrosmooth shipped together in the same package.
