On offer, we have an original gouache painting for advertising Byrrh wine. This is in their famous Art Nouveau style with a man with 3 faces , each drinking Byrrh. "Pour Tous!" is written below the name. Often referred to as a wine, Byrrh is a blend of red wine, mistelle and quinine developed in 1866. It remains popular today. This is hand signed on the back "Clamagirand Rogs (I Think) 3 - Rue de Landy a Clichy (Seine)". On thick paper, this measures 16 1/4" X 12 1/4".
I believe this is in very good condition. The painting is excellent: bright, clear and bold. The solid black background has some light scratches. The top left corner has been bumped and the edges show a bit of wear. As I am not an expert on art, please view my photographs for more description.
My friend who collects everything is parting with some of his treasures. Your last picture is this with another Byrrh illustration I have on a separate listing at this time. He purchased these from a rare book dealer in Los Angeles and was told they date to the 1950's, but we cannot verify that.
I will be happy to answer any questions, send more photos and, of course, combine your shipping.
