This Beautiful Austro - Hungarian Navicula was is a stunning example of baroque craftsmanship. Also called an Incense Boat because of the long and narrow shape of the vessel. A Naviculum or incense boat has a hinged lid to permit a partial opening of the vessel. This allows some of the incense grains to be accessed and spooned out, while holding the rest of the boat's contents inside.

This Navicula was made in the middle of the 18th Century and shows amazingly wrought details. The chased designs are partially remained gold plated. This traditional design of the Navicula is very rare nowadays. A highly collectible Devotional Object with more than 250 years of history.

Measurements: 5 inch in height - the round foot is 3.5 inch in diameter - the actual incense container is 6 by 3 3/4 inch

Condition: Very good antique condition with a beautiful patina (please see pictures)
