We offer for your consideration this pair of cast bronze picture frames.

These beautiful pictures frames look to be production sand cast bronze pieces.
Unfortunately I can find no date of foundry/makers marks, but these are very nice castings.

The frames are very ornate with classic scrolls of Acanthus leaves bordering the center oval. The scrolled leaves are rendered in high relief, which conveys a graceful swirling feel.
They are old and look to have had a gilt plating at some time, but that is worn away in many places, giving the frames a very nice patina and aged look. They could be cleaned up to reveal the bronze base metal, but their current look some might find very attractive.

Because they are bronze, they have some weight to them. The frames measure approximately 11 inches tall, and 8 1/2 inches wide.
The center oval is approximately 5 5/8ths tall by 4 1/8th wide.
The support strut in the back is also scrolled cast metal, it protrudes approximately 3 1/4 inches out from the back, to prop up the frame.

One of the frames is missing the glass, backing card, and two of the bent wire catches that secure the backing on. But the wires can be easily fabricated. The other frame will require a new backing card, because the existing one is crumbling due to age.
They would make beautiful small mirrors !

These would be perfect for a room decorated in a Hollywood regency style, or one wit neoclassical decor.

These would be a great gift idea ! get them, keep one for yourself, and then gift the other to someone who shares your design sensibilities.
