Description ------- From the estate of an old, Princeton, New Jersey family, who ran a blacksmith and a tinsmith shop (located on a street down by the Delaware and Raritan canal): this is a beaker shaped, tinsmith made, cup or tumbler.
Simplicity of form. Minimalist antique.
Sturdy and beautifully made. Note the perfectly folded rim, and meticulous soldering.
Nice used as a small vase or a large pencil cup.
Provenance will be given to the buyer.
- 5-1/4” tall x 3-7/8” diameter at rim, approx.
- Bottom diameter 2-1/2”
- Shown with a lemon and ruler, for scale
- Tinware beakers were made in the US from the mid 1700s to the mid 1800s. I dated this one by the other tin objects in this particular estate. (Please see my fantastic tin canal horn whimsy from this estate, in another listing of mine.)
Guaranteed old and as described.
