Wow this is an amazing choice for your garden. Think of the possibilities: Not only is it a striking red color but it is a medicinal herb, thrives throughout the south, can go in a pot on a border or in its own row next to other contrasting pretty flowers. Also, this is a butterfly and hummingbird magnet! You can't go wrong when choosing this. It is an annual however in the south it is a perennial. You would want to cover it during a light frost. A little TLC would go a long way with this wildflower. It will show up naturally in rocky dry soils.

Germination instructions: The seeds need sunlight to germinate. Likewise when planting, sow the seeds snugly onto the surface of the soil and take care when watering to ensure that the seeds don't sink into the darkness of the soil. Keep seeds and soil moist and at temperatures between 68-75 degrees until germination occurs. Germination time takes up to 30 days. If it's too hot or cold outside, it's best to germinate indoors using a starter tray, placed near a sunny window under controlled temperatures.
