Alexander Ney Russian American contemporary sculptor " Man in a Suit ". Unique piece sculpted in brown clay of a standing man in a suit with a tie c 1970s. The figure has some black clay in the recessed areas from being used as a model to make multiples. Signed N1 in his usual incised way. Size h 5" by 1.5" . This is from a very rare group of early miniature pieces most all were initialed in this way. Developing several individualistic styles in modern art, he is most famous for his unique work in terra cotta sculpture, involving heavily perforated surfaces and intriguing forms.
