Liberon Spirit Wood Dye is an ethanol based dye suitable for use on new and reclaimed timbers and may be over coated with wax, oil or varnish. It may also be used to tint French Polish.

Application
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from any existing finishes, wax, oil or grease etc. Sand thoroughly and remove any dust. Shake well before use. If more than one tin of dye is required to complete the work mix the tins together to ensure a uniform colour. Apply one liberal coat of Spirit Wood Dye with a brush or cloth, working with the grain wherever possible, allow the stain to penetrate, then remove the excess with a clean cotton cloth. For a stronger colour, apply a second coat after 4 hours. When dry, Liberon Spirit Wood Dye may be finished with a water-based varnish, wax, oil or French Polish.

Make sure you have sufficient dye to finish the work. If more than one tin is required, mix the contents together in a clean container to ensure a uniform colour. Do not mix spirit based dyes with water based dyes or white spirit based dyes Caution must be taken when using French polish and Shellac base sealers or oil based finishes as over brushing may remove the stain. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. Different types of wood produce different results. The colour bar may not be a true representation of the actual colour.
