The Speaker Element in the Bears Star Embroidered Foot is an "Active/ Powered System" and Requires 2AA Batteries (Not Included) to power the Speaker.

The Mono Speaker Tends to Distort at Highest Volume Settings from input Devices, and must be Manually Adjusted to Optimum Gain / Volume Level/ Amplitude.

SIMPLE Turn of the Volume Control on IPAD/ IPHONE:

Connect the Powered speaker plug into the device with Volume at 0. Begin Playback on device and raise the Device Volume control slowly.

If you experience Signal Distortion, pull the input device Volume down just below that Distorted Level, and that's your peak lever for that device. It will change from device to device. IPHONE / IPAD Models, as well as other playback devices.
