According to the records of Maitreya Sutra and Maitreya Sutra, Maitreya was originally born in a Brahman family and later became a disciple of Sakyamuni Buddha. He went into extinction before the Buddha. He was born in the inner courtyard of dourate heaven. He was born into the world at the age of 4000 (allegedly equivalent to 5.67 billion years on earth). He became a Buddha under the Longhua tree in Hualin garden and widely spread the Dharma.
