For sale is a good early federal coin silver tablespoon by
John Vernon of New York City, ca 1768-1815.
The spoon is 9 inches long and weighs 60 grams. It has a swaged pointed drop and a downturned
rounded handle. It is monogrammed “ILH” in
block letters on the handle front. It is
marked [I.V] in a shield with an eagle head and a stylized “P” as shown.
Condition on the spoon is fairly good. There is very minor tip wear, a wide shallow
dent in the heel and normal wear from use.
A good coin silver spoon!
