Erasmus' satirical attack on superstitions, and other traditions central to European society and the Western church.
Erasmus wrote this during a week spent sojourning with Sir Thomas More, at his house in Bucklersbury. Originally written in Latin, this work is considered to be one of the most important works of the Renaissance, and was fundamental of the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation.
CONDITION
In a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots. Pages 17 to 20 are detached but present.
