With Dacii, Sergiu Nicolaescu began his career as a director. The result is an impressive, apocalyptic movie with an overwhelming distribution and cast. Decebal (Amza Pellea) is willing to make the supreme sacrifice in order to keep the independence of his people. His son, Cotyso (Alexandru Herescu), is offered as a sacrifice to the Thracian Gods, in an attempt to win their support.
A young Roman soldier (Septimus Severus played by Pierre Brice) who is extremely devoted to his adoptive country will be soon forced to make a choice between the great empire that he carries in his blood and the loyalty that he feels toward these rugged, tough warriors living between the Black Sea and the Carpathian Mountains.
