Studio 49 Instrumentebau 14” Hand Drum. Hand engraved “Hood Dance” 3/14/67.

The skin definitely needs repairs. Whomever owned this apparently was involved in some “Woodstock” like musical moment. They carved “hood dance” on the outside and hand wrote “hood 3/14/67” inside.

I looked up Studio 49 and they are a German based musical instrument company that began in 1949. Everything is handmade! Based on this and the date inside of this piece; it’s well over 50 and very vintage. I have seen 12” offered on sites for sale but NOT the 14”! Very Rare!

I have no clue what the string attached to it is for but that also appears to be old; so I left it on.

The drum itself weighs 1.5 lbs; but I am sure by the time I’m done packing it; it’ll weigh 3!
