Arseny Aleksandrovich Tarkovsky (Russian: Арсений Александрович Тарковский, June 25 [O.S. June 12] 1907 – May 27, 1989) was a Soviet and Russian poet and translator, considered one of the great twentieth century Russian poets. Father of film director Andrei Tarkovsky.

Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky (Russian: Андрей Арсеньевич Тарковский, 4 April 1932 – 29 December 1986) was a Russian film director, screenwriter, and film theorist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers in Russian and world cinema. His films explored spiritual and metaphysical themes, and are noted for their slow pacing and long takes, dreamlike visual imagery, and preoccupation with nature and memory.
