SoftTouch Mag HubCap Line 21 Closed Caption XDS Decoder & Data Recovery in good used condition, recently removed from a working installation. Cosmetic condition is good with minor signs of normal use.

DESCRIPTION

The SoftTouch MagHubCap is a stand-alone processor of all Line 21 encoded data that combines the following four functions:

• Line 21 Decoder
• Data Recoverer
• Character Generator
• Program Rating & Text 2 Display

Line 21 Decoding

The MagHubCap can extract encoded Line 21 caption data from either field and display it. All field 1 and field 2 caption (CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4) and text (T1, T2, T3, T4) channels can be individually selected for display. In addition, XDS data can be displayed for monitoring purposes. This XDS data consists of network name, station name, local time and date, program title, TSID and program description

Data Recovery and Storage

Any of the data encoded in Line 21 can be extracted and transmitted out the serial port to an interconnected computer. This computer can then store the data in a file which can be later accessed for any number of applications. This feature is ideally suited to the hearing impaired who wish to review transcripts of programs they have viewed for better understanding, to researchers who wish to analyze various programs, and to broadcasters who wish to verify the captions and data they are transmitting on Line 21.

Character Generation

The MagHubCap can be used as a character generator for those who wish to inexpensively subtitle video tapes, or who wish to use the MagHubCap as a real-time marquee. Instead of receiving its data from the video, the MagHubCG receives its data from the serial port and responds to it as if it had received it in the video stream. The text to be displayed originates with an attached computer which sends it to the MagHubCap via the serial interface.  The MagHub will respond to the same data

Program Rating and Text 2 Display

The MagHubcap can be used to displayed any program rating information that is in the video, along with Text 2 data.
