Antique Silver Plate Ladies Patch (Beauty Mark) Box!

This wonderful box is approximately 1½" in diameter x ¾" tall. I rarely use "antique" as it is an over used term and does not fully identify the age. However, I am stuck with a wide range of possibility dating from the mid 1700's to the late 1800's. The best I can offer is to details of my analysis. The marks it bears on its bottom are stamped {REX"} and a crown. This leans heavily on it being English made with the crown indicating Sheffield and, purely a supposition the REX" meaning Rex II indicating King George II. If correct, it would indicate a piece made in Sheffield England during the reign of King George II (1727-1760). The dress of the woman embossed on the top would coincide with 1750-1760+. However,this image could be independent of the age of composition. You be the judge. It is a wonderful piece and its "feel" also leans to an early age. The estate that it came out of was filled with objects from the mid 1700's through the early 1900's.

The silver plating is well worn through everywhere one would expect it from many ages of use. Please super size the listing images to view the condition in closer detail!
